"PEER PRESSURE"-A thing of Past

How many times have you come across articles on,"teens","Students","freshers"or even adults(political parties, trade unions) for that matter without using the term-"peer pressure".Not many, isn't it. While talking about kids or teens, ill habits like reluctance towards studies, stress, exam fever,short-temper are attributed to peer pressure. When you talk of adults-drinking,smoking,cheating,eavesdropping,double-crossing.etc are attributed to peer pressure. But ideally,at least in todays scenario, should there be any peer pressure at all? Two sides of the coin Our parents,as students had very few choices when it came to choosing their stream of studies and making a career out of it.Bachelors in science and arts was a safe bet.Engineers,Doctors,Lawyers,Bankers were the esteemed lot.It was considered abysmally wrong if anyone were to try for non-government jobs. But things have changed now.Irrespective of your stream of study, getting a job is no big ...

Tuesdays with Morrie-A fabulous book

HOW DID I GET TO KNOW ABOUT THE BOOK?? One Tuesday morning,i was yawning, flipping through the tv channels reluctantly.Eventually i saw Director Vasanth's interview. It was only about to get over when he mentioned about the book he read recently and strongly recommended this book to all he met. Moreover,he quoted Dr.Manmohan Singh, who also contemplated everyone on reading the book. Since i was vetti to core, got the book from a lending library. To my astonishment i got so engrossed dat i finish ed the book at a stretch in 6hrs. GIST OF THE STORY Plot Though not a story as such, the author,Mitch Albom has written this book in the way of paying tribute for his late professor(Morrie),a sociologist.During his college days,Mitch shared a great rapport with Morrie.Morrie had opened up Mitch as he felt very comfortable to share everything with his professor. At farewell,Mitch had promised his "coach"(as he used to call him) to keep in touch ..But he never lived up to it. After 16 yrs...

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

It's truly unfair to dedicate a single day out of 365 to express our warmth to our mothers.I still can't quite give in to it.For someone who has been so selfless in raising us they deserve much more.Love ur parents as much as u can.Don't wait for an occasion to express ur love.A gentle hug or a kiss will do a world a lot of gud rather than trying to express ur love through materialistic things. Invest ur time in relations...U ll reap the benefits for generations

DA VINCI CODE vs DASAVATHARAM

Dr.Kamalahasan's recent flick Dasavatharam is undoubtedly the much awaited film of the year. It's gonna be a massive hit because every controversial film of his has turned out to be a box office hit.And Dasavatharam is no exception. From what little info we are able to discern from the trailer & buzz around kollywood. One could make a plausible guess that the film is about make both ends meet-mythology and science & technology. The script, like the the most critically acclaimed Da Vinci Code has created a stir among the Hindu spiritualists and religionists. Considering the fact that the actor himself has penned the script besides playing different characters, one must marvel this man's intellect. When people boast of dual roles, its beyond a layman's imagination the amount of creativity, knowledge , hard work and commitment that it takes right from conceiving the ideas and bring it out with perfection through getups, modulation etc.Song sequences must be a compromise kee...

ANNA UNIVERSITY RESULTS-MY WORST NIGHTMARE

The believers of KARMA would say that one gets deservedly punished for their sins. One’s horrified and guilty mind is culpable of conjuring various modes of punishment, both in lines of mythological realm (hell or perdition) as well as mundane. In hell, most people believe sinners are drowned in a cauldron of boiling oil or tied to bed of nails while being bitten by huge wasps, scorpions, etc.Nevertheless, there are some tailor-made modes of punishments on earth with the former as a blueprint. According to my analysis, the most ruthless form of torture is awaiting for Anna University results. The onlookers feel that the candidates get to hone their skills and broaden their spectrum of knowledge by the way of going through the rigors of these exams. But they are only to be mistaken. Leave alone the scheduling of the examination, the real agony spurs only when the exams get over. Day by day the pressure mounts and the candidate tends to lose his peace of mind. He desperately tries to...
